On March 8, 2024, the Minister of Human Resources, YB Steven Sim Chee Keong, appointed Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad (TalentCorp) as the strategic think tank for the Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA). This initiative aims to enhance the government's capacity for policy development, advocacy, and future planning by leveraging TalentCorp's extensive experience in managing programmes for both local and global talent.
In its new role, TalentCorp will collaborate with various ministries, agencies, industries, and academic institutions to address the evolving challenges within Malaysia's workforce. The first project under this mandate involves conducting an impact study on how artificial intelligence, digitalisation, and the green economy affect Malaysia's workforce and work landscape. This study aims to provide valuable insights for policymakers and industries, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), to prepare the workforce for future demands.
Established in 2011, TalentCorp is dedicated to driving Malaysia's talent strategy by attracting, nurturing, and retaining the expertise necessary for economic growth. The agency's efforts are anchored on three strategic thrusts: optimising Malaysian talent, attracting and facilitating global talent, and establishing networks of top talent.
This new role as KESUMA's think tank underscores TalentCorp's commitment to developing a dynamic and resilient workforce capable of meeting current and future challenges.
